*** Juwayriyah bint al-Harith ( جُوَيْرِيَة بنت الحارث رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهَا ) ***

Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (جُوَيْرِيَة بنت الحارث رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهَا) was one of the wives of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Born into the Banu Mustaliq tribe, she was initially among the captives taken during the Battle of Banu Mustaliq. Her marriage to the Prophet is remembered as a significant event that brought peace between her tribe and the Muslim community, leading to the freedom of many captives and fostering a sense of unity and reconciliation.

Early Life and Background :

Family and Tribe :
Juwayriyah was the daughter of al-Harith ibn Abi Dirar, the chief of the Banu Mustaliq tribe, which was part of the larger Khuza’a confederation.
High Status :
Being the daughter of a tribal leader, Juwayriyah held a respected status in her community. However, her tribe had been in conflict with the Muslims, which led to the Battle of Banu Mustaliq in 627 CE.

Captivity and Marriage to the Prophet :

Captivity :
During the battle, Juwayriyah was captured along with others from her tribe. Initially, she became a prisoner and was placed under the custody of Thabit ibn Qays.
Seeking Freedom :
Juwayriyah approached the Prophet to negotiate her freedom, offering to pay a ransom. The Prophet, upon hearing her request and recognizing her noble background, proposed marriage to her as a way to grant her freedom and establish peace.
Marriage :
Juwayriyah accepted the Prophet’s proposal, and the marriage resulted in the release of many captives. Moved by this union, the companions of the Prophet freed hundreds of prisoners, saying that they could not keep the relatives of the Prophet's wife as captives. This gesture created goodwill between the Muslims and the Banu Mustaliq tribe.

Her Life and Legacy :

Devotion to Worship :
Juwayriyah was known for her piety and dedication to worship. She spent long hours in prayer, remembrance of Allah, and acts of devotion. Her spirituality became an inspiration to other members of the Prophet's household and the community.
Kind and Gentle Character :
Juwayriyah’s gentle nature and her relationship with the Prophet’s other wives added harmony to the household. She became an esteemed figure in the Muslim community, embodying the values of forgiveness, patience, and compassion.

Death and Burial :

Passing:
Juwayriyah lived a quiet and pious life after the Prophet's death. She passed away around 670 CE during the caliphate of Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ). Burial: She was buried in Jannat al-Baqi in Medina, where many companions and family members of the Prophet rest.
Juwayriyah bint al-Harith (رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهَا) is remembered for her role in fostering peace and unity through her marriage to the Prophet. Her compassion, dedication to worship, and influence on the early Muslim community continue to serve as examples of faith, humility, and devotion.
